finished the "body work" a few days ago but i’ve been to lazy to post it.
it might not be your taste. but here’s where i’m going with it so i need input.
i cant afford to get it coated right now and that’s a good thing since i can’t decide between all black or chrome, so far i kinda like the bare-bones look of aluminum.
i’d read a lot about using auto trim paint for the limbs or bed liner(?) and i happened upon krylon fusion (for plastics) "high bonding" very flexible thought it’d be perfect put on a base coat of satin and three light coats of gloss, looks amazing i didn’t rough up the invelvet coating since the stuffs supposed to stick to plastic lawn chairs, i’m not sure yet, it lives up to the flex part as i’ve shot it quite a few times and the finish still looks perfect but two spots came off from my hanger,
i’m undecided , this stuff MIGHT be the perfect solution and it comes in a wide array of colors, if i have problems with it i’ll try removing it, scuffing the invelvet and only one good coat of satin , as i’m thinking i may have just put it on too thick. during application i thought i’d give it a whirl on the riser so i painted the pivot arms (without scuffing them either ..big mistake, looks good but a slight rub with a scotch-bright pad as i was cleaning the bushings off showed me it was only good as long as i dont touch it)
my suggestions experiment with this fusion paint it just might be the trick.
