Update To My Season
By admin, March 10th, 2010,in Deer Hunting Forums » | No Comments »
My next hunt since I last posted was a 8 shed day.I found my best set for the year that day and a few nice ones.
I started the day finding my first shed of the day at 6:20 and if it wasn’t for the snow I never would have spotted it.
I had to use a flash for pics.I ended up finding 4 sheds in the first 50 mnis.

Not far away shed #2 for the day.

As fast as I started walking again I spot another one.

In a batch of bare ground an old one was next.

Back in the snow I found the first half to the set I found that day.
My brother that lives in N.H sent me a pic of this buck that his friend that lives down here sent him. It’s about a mile from where I also got a pic of this same buck.

A good while later after searching some serious ground for the mate to the last one I finally spotted this.

And the 2 at home together.

Happy with finding the 2 sides I started heading out to check out another spot.On the way out I walked through the area I started the day off in.In the low light I wanted to make sure I didn’t walk by any sheds.
Sure enough in between where I found my first 2 sheds I missed this one.

My next spot I stopped to check was a small area. Here I only found an old busted up shed to end the day.

And all 8 for the day.

My next hunt was a 5 shed day.I really thought I’d make a killing on the sheds in this area, not. It was a huge cedar thicket with a good hike to back to.
My first find today was a fresh one the squirrel already found.

An hour or so later the mate to the last one.

Alot of walking before another one.A nice 3pt.side with a busted off brow tine. There was a small chew on this one too.

Next one was a fast one after the last one. This is where I thought things would pick up.

A couple more hours in this area and nothing.I stopped on the way home in a small area for a quick look and only found one old chewed antler.

The 5 for the day.

My next hunt was another 5 shed day.
I started off today searching 4 hours or so coming up empty.I then moved to a different area and found 5 in no time.Go figure…4 were all found with in 100yds. of each other.
First one the rodents found first,I hate squirrels.

Next was a nicer shed.

Next was fast and not far away.

It was alittle bit later, but not far from the last ones I spot this.

After seraching the area good for mates and getting late I started heading out.
Walking a field edge I spot this 20yds. into the woods to end my day.

And all 5 for the day.

Two more hunts and 19 more sheds……to be continued.
